Travel Grants

Travel grants are awarded from the Society’s general funds to help BHS Members whose travel expenses to attend scientific meetings are not met by an employer. Applicants should have been Members of the Society for at least six months. The amount will depend on the nature and location of the meeting and the case put forward.

Priority is given to Members under 35 or retired from employment, who are presenting papers and who have not previously received support from BHS. Successful applicants will be expected to write a short report on their visit for publication in the BHS newsletter Circulation. Travel grant applications should be made to the Hon. Treasurer at least two months before the conference or meeting.

The Society also administers the Exeter Fund, income from which is used to support young hydrologists resident in the UK to take part in IAHS events or those of its parent body the IUGG. The deadline for applications to the Exeter Fund for those wishing to attend the biennial IAHS International Symposium will be published in Circulation

To apply, use the PDF form attached (please, no handwriting and use 'BHS Travel Grant application as the subject heading) to the Hon Treasurer.
