Benefits of Membership
The Society organises national and regional meetings on many different aspects of hydrological science and its applications which members are encouraged to attend, not only to further their professional expertise but also to network with fellow hydrologists. These meetings are open to all but members pay a significantly smaller fee to attend. Details of meetings are given on the Meetings page of this website (also linked to a Google calendar), circulated through Mailbase and published in the Society’s quarterly newsletter Circulation sent by post to all members.
The Society operates the BHS Mailbase for members to disseminate information.
Career development is further aided by the Society offering assistance to those seeking chartership status. Situations vacant are advertised via the Mailbase and also listed under Careers.
Conference grants are awarded from the Society’s general funds to help BHS Members whose travel expenses to attend scientific meetings are not met by an employer. Applicants should have been Members of the Society for at least six months. The amount will depend on the nature and location of the meeting and the case put forward.
