Terry Evans, a long-time member of BHS and Honorary Treasurer from 1997 to 2001, died peacefully on Sunday 14th February after a long illness.

BHS Third International Symposium 2010

BHS is delighted to announce that abstract submission is now open for our Third International Symposium to be held at Newcastle University, 19-23 July 2010.
A limited number of fellowships will be available to both overseas and young delegates. Priority will be given to authors of papers at the Conference in selecting recipients.

New Officers for BHS

A new President and Hon. Treasurer took office at the Society's AGM on 28th September, along with three new committee members.
The outgoing President Frank Farquharson presented the President's Prize to Dr Hilary Smithers for her services to hydrology and to the Society over many years.

Student prize winners
2/10/2009
This year's undergraduate student competition was won by Christopher Fitzsimmons from Cambridge University for his dissertation on Subglacial drainage system structure and morphology of Midtdalsbreen, Norway.
Outgoing President Frank Farquharson presented Christopher with his prize of £400 and an engraved quaich at the BHS Annual General Meeting in Oxford.
